Regarding the purpose of providing assistance to government agencies in activities related to the Aparados da Serra Geral’s canyons, we can point out the Association’s participation in the workshop for revising the Management Plan for the Aparados da Serra and Serra Geral National Parks; the assistance given to the Integrated Management Center – NGI Aparados da Serra Geral in the drafting of the Emergency Action Plan – PAE and the Inventory of Dangers and Risks related to Canyoning; guaranteeing specific seats for the Fire Departments of the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul in the Canyon Rescue Courses organized by the Association; and guiding canyon descents for the Fire Departments of the states of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul. Also worth mentioning is the assistance provided to the environmental agencies of both states in the project to search for, discover and rediscover populations of endangered amphibian species in the canyons of the Aparados da Serra Geral region.

As to the practice of canyoning itself, ACASERG members have performed numerous canyon descents, whether in canyons located in Aparados da Serra Geral — including the exploration and preparation of new canyoning routes in the region —; canyons in other regions of Brazil, such as São Paulo and Chapada dos Veadeiros (GO); or in other countries, such as Portugal, Spain, France and Mexico. They have also participated in a canyoning expedition in the Sahara Desert. Finally, they participated in the Rassemblement Internationale de Canyon – RIC of Catalonia (2023) and Mexico (2024). All of these activities have allowed ACASERG members to experience different types of canyons, whether in relation to the kind of rock they are carved in or to its vertical or aquatic characteristics.

Concerning exchanges with similar entities, we can mention the activities carried out with Rescate en Cañones México – RECAM, and the representation of Brazil in Rescate en Cañones Americalatina – RECAL, recently created. The Association has also sought to strengthen ties with the Federació Catalana d’Espeleologia – FCE.
Finally, with regard to the preparation of material about the canyons of Aparados da Serra Geral, we can mention the documentary “Memories of the Canyon Traverses in Aparados da Serra”
